上図について　Grade20　の意味が全く不明なので、炭素鋼鋼材の応力ーひずみ曲線の引張り、圧縮のグラフはこのようなものという程度に眺めてください。圧縮、引張りともに比例限度はほぼ同じと考えられるかもしれない。原文ではLowCarbonSteelの場合、となっていたが、JISではS55Cあたりに相当しそうなグラフ。

Thìs property  is very sharply expressed in plastic  metals.  Figure 68 illustrates tension and compression curves of low carbon steels.
Steels under tension pass through the well-known stages: after elas­tic deformatìon the metal begins to yield (Portìon m) and as a result of cold working hardens (portion n).
